High blood pressure is a global health issue and a common risk factor for major chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease. In Taiwan, over 39,000 deaths annually are linked to high blood pressure-related conditions.

Key Blood Pressure Management Tips:

The World Hypertension League’s theme for World Hypertension Day (May 17) is “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer.” Monitoring and managing blood pressure is crucial for maintaining health.

The "722" Rule for Blood Pressure Measurement:

  • 7: Measure blood pressure for seven consecutive days.
  • 2: Measure twice daily—once in the morning after waking up, and once before bed.
  • 2: Take two readings each time for accuracy.

For accurate blood pressure tracking, it’s recommended that adults check their blood pressure at least once a year, while those with high blood pressure should follow the "722" rule.

Healthy Lifestyle for Stable Blood Pressure:

Factors like excessive salt, alcohol, lack of exercise, and overweight contribute to high blood pressure. Adopt a healthy lifestyle with a low-fat, low-salt, high-fiber diet, and regular exercise to keep your blood pressure in check.
