Sexual health issues among young people can no longer be overlooked. According to the latest data from the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as of the end of June 2025, there were 438 newly reported HIV cases, with over 70% occurring in individuals aged 35 and under. Meanwhile, reported cases of syphilis and gonorrhea have reached 5,629 and 3,501, respectively—highlighting sexual health as a pressing public health issue.
In Taoyuan City alone, 739 syphilis cases and 309 gonorrhea cases have been reported in 2025, significantly higher than in previous years, making it a priority region for prevention and control efforts.
To promote early detection and awareness, the Taiwan CDC is launching the Free At-Home HIV Self-Test Kit Redemption Program on campuses. The initiative encourages students in senior high schools and above to anonymously self-test and better understand their health status while strengthening awareness and prevention of HIV and other STIs.
